A Young Man's Irresponsible Drinking Leads To A DWI And Time Locked Up In Jail
Richard had a hard time maintaining a job. In fact, due to his laziness and lack of motivation, he was without a job far more often than he was gainfully employed. And when he did land a job, he had a hard time getting to work when his shift began, he commonly received poor performance appraisals, and he called off sick so often that he typically got fired a few weeks after he started working.
Not surprisingly, one of the outcomes of Richard's less than passing employment history was the fact that he was without much money most of the time. Despite Richard's less than passing work history and financial lack of attention, on the other hand, one way or another he managed to drink in a hazardous manner most of the time.
So it came as no big shock when Richard received a third DUI. When he went to court, the judge stated to Richard that his alcohol-related behavior was awful and, as a result, he was going to sentence Richard to spend nine months locked up in jail.
During his time in jail, Richard was required to learn more about alcohol facts such as alcohol related consequence and alcohol deaths, about the disruptive outcomes of careless drinking, and he was expected to get alcohol counseling. The judge emphasized the fact that unless Richard receives professional alcohol rehab and learns how to live a life of sobriety, he will probably be spending a lot more time placed behind bars.

Although Richard realized that he drank in a hazardous manner, he never thought that he was an individual who was dependent on alcohol. So it was quite a shock when Richard began experiencing chronic alcoholism symptoms and alcohol withdrawal symptoms about five hours after getting locked up in jail.
To monitor his alcohol withdrawals in a safe and secure manner, Richard was taken to a rehabilitation facility for alcohol detox and then returned to the county jail. While locked up in the local jail Richard received alcohol rehab but because he got this rehab as something that was imposed upon him, he failed to take ownership of his excessive and abusive drinking.
When his time behind bars was over, the judge without hesitation told Richard that he would be under close surveillance and would be required to take periodic urine alcohol tests. After hearing how Richard failed to take ownership of his drinking problem and how he unwillingly followed the counseling protocol while behind bars, the judge knew that it was only a matter of time before he would be seeing Richard once again in court about his careless drinking behavior.
As the judge reflected on Richard's situation, he couldn't help but think about how some people never use common sense and learn how to live in an accountable and productive manner.
